Knowledge and Skills

  • Learn off-beat rhythm with rest.

  • Play a simple melody fluently.

  • Play root notes fluently, play a roll evenly.

  • Revise A, G and F major scales.

  • Composing using the scales above.

     

Understanding and apply 1,3 and 5 notes of the chord. 

Play a simple chord sequence.

Demonstrate good aural skills through learning by ear. 

Develop rhythm and timing skills through ensemble rehearsal.

Learn to build memory skills without the use of Steel Pan notation.

Pupils learn structure and how sound can be organised. 

They perform simple patterns and accompaniments keeping to a steady pulse.

 

Pupils learn how the musical elements can be used to create different moods or effects, they also learn solo playing and ensemble playing techniques.
