Letter from Westminster

New school meals contractor appointed

Dear Parent / Guardian,

As you may know, last year over 4,000 parents completed our survey about school meals and from this we know that the quality of meals is the most important thing to parents.

After a thorough procurement process, we are now delighted to announce that Caterlink has been awarded the contract for nursery, primary and special schools (Lot 1) in Westminster City Council (WCC).

School representatives were involved in every step of the evaluation process, from shaping the assessment questions to tasting the food prepared by the contractors. All involved were very impressed with Caterlink's performance, particularly in the following areas:

Food quality and sourcing was of a very high standard.

Ability to engage schools, meet bespoke needs and offer tailored information and feedback sessions with schools.

Experience and ability to meet the diverse needs of individual schools within the Borough for schools requiring both a halal meal offer only and non halal offer only. This includes full traceability audits.

Experience in delivering a smooth and professional transition.

The new contract is due to start on 11th April 2016.

We are committed to working in partnership with you in order to make this change a success. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact us on 0207 641 3391 or email us at: schoolmealsincome@westminster.gov.uk

Yours sincerely

The School Meals Contract Team
