Attendance

Attendance

Regular school attendance is important.  Pupils need to attend school regularly if they are to take full advantage to the educational opportunities available to them by law.

Parents/carers can check their child’s attendance at any time via the Arbor app. At CCB we aim for all pupils to have attendance at or above 96.5%.   At the end of the academic year, your child’s attendance will be included in their end of year report.

The pupil’s parent/carer must notify the school of the reason for the absence on the first day of an unplanned absence by 8:45am or as soon as practically possible by calling the school admin/office staff.

Sickness

We will mark absence due to illness as authorised unless the school has a genuine concern about the authenticity of the illness. If the authenticity of the illness is in doubt, the school may ask the pupil’s parent/carer to provide medical evidence, such as a doctor’s note, prescription, appointment card or other appropriate form of evidence.

We will not ask for medical evidence unnecessarily. If the school is not satisfied about the authenticity of the illness, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and parents/carers will be notified of this in advance.

Lateness and punctuality

A pupil who arrives late:

  • Before the register has closed will be marked as late, using the appropriate code

  • After the register has closed will be marked as absent, using the appropriate code

If a child arrives at school for any reason outside of the times for drop off and pick up (8:45-09:00 and 3:15-3:30) please use the office entrance so that the appropriate code can be administered

Holiday during term time

If you need to request leave from school during term time for your child, you will need to complete the term time leave form (available from the school office) and provide any additional evidence, which will then be considered by the Headteacher. Whenever possible, this form should be completed a minimum of two weeks prior to the requested leave period.

The Headteacher will only grant a leave of absence to pupils during term time if they consider there to be 'exceptional circumstances'. A leave of absence is granted at the Head’s discretion.
