Computing

Term 4

We have been collecting data about how children travel to school.

We then used this information to create a bar chart using J2Data.

Term 4

Following on from our lesson about Internet safety, we created our own posters using Publisher.

We inserted pictures from the DigiDuck story and added our own text to the picture.

Term 4

In computing we have been learning about being safe on the internet by reading a story called DigiDuck.

In computing we have been programming floor robots.

Working in small groups, we programmed a Beebot to get as close as possible to a tower without touching it or knocking it over.

We predicted the forward instructions, thinking about the size of a ‘Beebot step’, and then programmed the Beebots, ‘debugging’ if we needed to.

We repeated this with the tower at different distances.

In computing we have been programming an on-screen sprite using JIT Turtle.

We have been learning about what algorithms are and how to debug a set of instructions.

We completed different tasks and wrote our own programs, including in 'advanced mode', where we needed to imagine the route the sprite would take before setting it off on its journey.

This term in computing we are using branching data files to sort things.

We chose some animals and thought of yes or no questions we could ask to sort them.

We began by sorting three animals, then as a challenge some of us had a go at adding one or two more animals to the set.
