Physical Development & PE

EYFS Statutory Educational Programme:

Physical activity is vital in children’s all-round development, enabling them to pursue happy, healthy and active lives. Gross and fine motor experiences develop incrementally throughout early childhood, starting with sensory explorations and the development of a child’s strength, co-ordination and positional awareness through tummy time, crawling and play movement with both objects and adults.

Term 5: This term we learned how to play cricket! Our teachers showed us how to stand properly and how to hold the bat just right. We loved batting and hitting the ball really far!

Term 4: We had so much fun pretending to go on all kinds of trips! We explored different ways we can use our bodies to balance. Here we are pretending to visit the circus!

Term 3: In gymnastics, we used hoops around the hall to act as boats. Some children pretended to be pirates while the rest of us avoided them by moving around and entering the boats. While in the boats, we had to hold different gymnastics positions!

Term 3: Dough gym helps us make our fingers and hands super strong!

Term 2: Exploring Different Ways of Movement with Astronaut Exercises

Term 1: This is us at lunch, eating a healthy meal using cutlery!
