English

Term 5

We used dictionaries to check the meaning of important topic-related scientific vocabulary.

This helped us to write explanation texts about the life cycle of a sunflower.

Term 4

Following on from learning about the features of non-fiction texts, we planned our own non-fiction text all about being healthy.

We started off by learning  about the Eatwell Plate and how we should be eating food from a range of food groups.

Term 4

We are learning about non-fiction texts.

We started off by looking at fiction and non-fiction texts and sorted them according to their features.

Term 3

In English this term we have been learning about performance poetry.

We practised performing poems to the class.

Term 3

We have been reading Lima's Red Hot Chilli in English.

We made milkshakes to help us prepare for writing a set of instructions for Lima.

We thought carefully about all the steps and used commands with imperative (bossy) verbs when saying the instructions.

We also enjoyed drinking our milkshakes!

In English we are looking at a model text and getting familiar with the features of the text type.

We are thinking about different parts of sentences, including openers, conjunctions and the use of adjectives to make expanded noun phrases.

In English we read the story The Storm Whale by Benji Davies.

We hotseated the main character, Noi, to help us understand his feelings and actions at different parts of the story.

We practised writing questions using question marks and tried to answer in full sentences.
