Maths

In maths we have been learning about multiplication and division.

We made arrays to match multiplication number sentences.

This helped us to understand multiplication and the fact that you can swap the numbers around but the answer stays the same – the commutative rule.

We have been learning about 3D shapes and their properties, thinking about their faces, edges and vertices.

We matched 3D shapes to descriptions of their faces.

Then we chose a shape and described the faces to our partner, who had to guess the shape.  It was fun and helped us to get to know 3D shapes better.

We also learned about the nets of 3D shapes.

We really enjoyed building some 3D shapes using the 2D shapes that made up their faces.

Some of the 3D shapes we made included cubes, cuboids and triangular prisms.

In maths we have been looking at place value.

We used manipulatives to help us understand the value of the digits in 2-digit numbers.

We showed this in different ways.
