Science

Our Spring term Science topic is Uses of Everyday Materials.

We explored how the shapes of objects made from some materials can be changed.

We performed squashing, bending, twisting and stretching actions to try to change the shapes or various objects. We used words like 'flexible' and 'rigid' to describe materials that could be changed easily and those that could not.

During the second half of the Autumn term, we are learning about Animals, Including HumansAs part of this topic, we looked at the basic needs of animals and thought about the things we need to do to ensure we stay healthy.

We carried out different exercises and recorded the number of each type we could do in one minute.

We also thought about what our bodies had to do for each one and how it made us feel after the exercise.

We learned about some minibeasts and thought about the following question: Do all minibeasts like living in the same microhabitats?

We searched in different microhabitats and recorded the type and number of minibeasts we found.

In Science this term we are learning about living things and their habitats.

We looked in the playground for things that were living, dead or that had never been alive.

We sorted objects into these three sets and thought about what living things do that tell us they are alive, for example breathing, moving, growing, producing waste and reproducing.
