Mathematics

EYFS Statutory Educational Programme:

Developing a strong grounding in number is essential so that all children develop the necessary building blocks to excel mathematically. Children should be able to count confidently, develop a deep understanding of the numbers to 10, the relationships between them and the patterns within those numbers.

We are learning about even numbers.

We found that even numbers are those ending with 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8.

Maths during Freeflow.

We are learning that big shapes can  be made up of smaller shapes. The smaller shapes can be the same shape as the big shape or different ones.

Kirk made all these patterns on the board using the rubber bands during freeflow.

What can you see? How do you see it?

We are learning to subitise using the dice. We worked with a partner, taking turns in rolling it and naming the number that we can see without counting!.

Triangles

We have learnt that triangles have three sides and three corners. We can draw it too!

We are learning about circles. We have learned that circles have a curve side. We found these shapes around our classroom have curves.

We are learning to find the numbers that make three.

We are learning to make a repeating pattern.

We are learning to compare height.

First we looked at the children's height and ordered them from the shortest to the tallest. Then we ordered the strips of paper.

We are learning to make repeating patterns.
